Pack 2 Glossary
FUMC - First United Methodist Church or FUMC is our chartered, or sponsoring, organization. We hold our meetings at FUMC. It is located at North B and North 15th street. The Family Life Center or the "gym" is at North C and North 16th. Not all doors may be accessible at all meetings. We'll try to post signs or scouts to help direct traffic as the events around the church campus change.
Den Meetings - Den meetings are "grade-level" meetings. They are usually held in the Sunday School classrooms on the third floor of FUMC. Tiger Cubs take lots of field trips and some of the other groups might take field trips during their den meetings. First graders are Tiger Cubs. Second graders are Wolf Cubs. Third graders are Bear Cubs. Fourth and fifth graders are Webelos.
Pack Meetings - Pack meetings have the entire group, grades 1-5 in one room for special events, awards and other activities.
Campouts - Our pack camps frequently. We have camping equipment for you to borrow if you don't have your own. You don't have to camp to be in scouting, but most boys want to have that experience. Cub scouts (grades 1-5) are supposed to camp with their parent/guardian. Exceptions can be made, but . . . talk to the Cub Master if you need help with this guideline.
Fun with Son Campouts - Individual families are always welcome to participate in any and all Fun with Son campouts. Registration is through the scout office. Registration fees cover three Saturday meals and Sunday breakfast. At Fun with Son campouts, you have the opportunity to canoe, fish, shoot BB-guns and participate in archery. When the pack participates in a Fun with Son, we provide a Friday meal. Due to our busy schedule in the fall, the pack won't be participating in fall Fun with Sons, but again, individual families are welcome to go.
Rogers Scout Reservation - RSR is south of Mansfield - far enough out you feel you're in the woods, but close enough that you don't have to spend the night. Feel free to come to Spookaree and hang out by the fire with us and then drive home Saturday night to the comfort of your own bed. It's become routine for someone to be driving one or more of the boys into town for sporting events and then returning to the campout. For a true camping experience, stay overnight in the tents. For a busy weekend but you hate the miss the whole thing, drive down for a few hours and enjoy the woods.
Directions to Rogers Scout Reservation - Take 71 South through Greenwood and Mansfield. Turn east (left) on State Highway 23 towards Ione/Booneville at the rest area (first rest area you'll see on 71). Drive almost six miles into Ione. Turn right on Boy Scout Road. Bounce down the gravel for approximately 2 miles. Turn left into the rock gates.
